Aftercare
After care is super simple, but very important! If you have any questions, please reach out. You are also welcome to send me a message or photo letting me know how you’re getting on if you’re not sure on anything.
Leave cling film on for 1-2 hours, then remove and gently rinse the tattoo under warm water. Pat dry with clean kitchen roll, or let air dry. If your tattoo has heavy solid blackwork/colour and you are concerned about getting ink on your bed sheets, you can wrap again in cling film overnight for the first night, although it is best to let it breathe if possible.
After 24 hours, you can start to moisturise the tattoo twice a day with clean hands, until the tattoo is fully healed (usually around 2-3 weeks). I recommend Aveeno cream for this as it is very gentle on the skin. It's fine to get the tattoo wet under a running shower - it is important to keep it clean - but do not submerge or soak the tattoo during healing, and avoid using any heavily perfumed shower gels/soaps etc.
Things to avoid during healing:
-
Swimming, saunas, steam rooms, baths
-
Sun exposure - keep the tattoo out of direct sunlight, and do not apply sun cream until completely healed. This also means no sunbeds!
-
Avoid exercise for the first few days. Excessive sweating can cause irritation and in some cases infection.
If you’ve had a great experience, I’d greatly appreciate a Google review for the studio where you were tattooed - it really helps small businesses like ours!
Hopefully see you again soon!
Kind regards,
Martha
